Trip to Finesterra

A trip to the end of the earth

Took a bus tour to the end of the earth (Finesterra) and Muxia along the Costa da Morte (Coast of Death) this is located roughly 60 kilometers west of Santiago. Back when the Earth was still flat, this was thought to literally be the end of the Earth. Muxia is also where the movie “The Way” about the Camino de Santiago, starring Martin Sheen, concluded. Pics with commentary below.

A good map of Costa da Morte
By the way, for those who might be interested. the above is my Compestela, being written in Latin designating the completion of a religious pilgrimage. After walking 14 miles the last day I stood in line nearly an hour with other pilgrims wait to have my pilgrim’s passport validated. The office had 15 lanes going! A lot of pilgrims passed through that day.
The above are shots taken of a old village on the way to Galacia circa late 17th century.  The interior shot is a photo of the water turbines used to power a factory of some sort located there at the time.
Above is photos of a guy whose facial expression is a reflection of trying to do a selfie. I’m not upset in the least lol. The water fall is supposed to be the longest drop in continental Europe at 100 meters.
Waypoint 0.00 the end of the earth.
The end of the earth below, video of same.

and moving to the other end of the earth in Muxia. Much more dramatic.

And associated video

Finally some shots of the chapel at Muxia.

Finally one of the largest known storage structures in Galacia. Built in the 14th century.
Thanks for joining me on my trek. I plan to have one more posting on some other items of interest I encountered on my trip that did not particularly fit within my own self placed limits in my previous postings. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as  I have enjoyed bringing it to you. Salud!
