The Lord rested on the 7th day. I don’t have his endurance.
I have become a connisuer of surfaces after walking several miles. My favorite is presently fine gravel, about one step above dust. Easy on the feet but good traction. Plain dirt is more comfortable but gives less traction after that it’s wet. Asphalt, Roman stone, cobblestones and whatever that crappy sidwalk was that I walked in O’Porrino are, in that order, my least favorite. I don’t know what genius came up with that sidewalk surface but it was slicker than a cat’s….:well, let’s just leave it that after 10k of hard hiking I didn’t need the challenge of traversing rain slick sidewalks. If they’re available, Don Smith should hire these guys as they did one helluva good job of finishing that concrete lol.
Anyway to topics of more of a general interest. Caldes de Reyes is an interesting town, the prettiest town I have visited so far Caldes de Reyes is a spa town with warm mineral springs and appears to be a popular spot for folks in the region to go to for a quick break from the world. I spent to hours sitting at an outdoor cafe sipping red wine and nibbling on a pizza, it doesn’t get much better. Photos below, enjoy
PS have photos of the Church of St. Thomas Beckett (yes the man of all seasons) where I attended the Pikgrim’s Mass in Caldes de Reyes. I will be doing a separate post on that.
The bridge and river next to the hotel.

The following two pics are Galatian evening sky at 10pm and my meal of baked Octopus, a local delicacy. It was actually very good. Much Better than the vast majority of rubbery Calamari I have eaten lol.

The square that I sat on in the afternoon.

Finally a picture of the heated mineral water pool and one of me in the hotel lobby before setting off to Padron.

Not sure how this snuck in again but I can’t figure out how delete it without losing the entire post, so, seconds.
Lou, you are looking good. Travel safe and keep up the blog!
