So onto the train. Many more pictures from here on as I’m fairly sure folks would rather see pictures rather than listening to my rambling. 🙂 so here goes nothing.

The Spanish railway system is very good though travel to NW Spain, due to the mountainous terrain is still below bullet train speeds though it is improving. The highest speed we hit during short segments of the trip was 250 kph or 150 mph.
I do find the change of terrain and climate as one crosses Spain fascinating from dry plains and mountains

The train was comfortable

So as we started the trip a young couple with a toddler joined is in n the coach. The little one was not happy and I frankly was not looking forward to being in close proximity to an unhappy baby. However, she calmed down and after a while mom had her walking up and down the aisle. On one lap she looked up at me. I said “Hello” and then realizing I was in Spain immediate said “Hola” at which point her face lit up.

The remainder of the trip was uneventful with the biggest challenge being hailing a cab in SdC. But I finally got to cathedral square.

Which looked much better than two years ago.

After dinner with my friends and hiking companions Mike and Melanie Salvino. I got a nice night shot of the cathedral.

So it’s bed time. Tomorrow’s post will begin my hike to the end of the earth.
