Day 4 can you see the sea at Cee? Si! πŸ˜‚

Well after two miserable days of weather we were ready for some rest. The town of Cee, Spain is an industrial seaside town in northwest Spain.

For those of you familiar with SW VA you would be amazed at the similarities in the two areas. Weather, similar; terrain, similar; economic conditions, similar. Cee reminds me in many ways of Bluefield WV. When passing through one can tell that at one time it was a happening place but now the bloom is off the rose. Also,as with SW VA/SE KY, Galicia is losing population as well.

Street our hotel was on

But, we were of good spirits having weathered what we hoped was the worst of our trek got some laundry done and went of in search of some supplies (in my case compeed blister treatment, damn wet socks) cold medication for Mike and, of course, lunch.

A church just off the square in Cee

As we got down to the square we realized we were only a few hundred feet from the ocean.

Tide’s out
A little better perspective
Many of these buildings appeared empty

The city center was adjacent to the beach and so back into town we went to find lunch. Since it was after 2pm, all of the stores were closed for siesta until 6-6:30 pm, except for cafes. So we enjoyed a leisurely lunch near the square.

Lunch on the square.

A stroll back to the hotel and then a late dinner (8pm) by our standards but prime dinner time for the locals. A soccer game was on TV with the men huddled in the bar watching. Some behaviors simply ignore borders lol.

9:30 and restaurant in background is running wide open. The chairs in the foreground are for a cafe which was open at siesta. Cafes serve breakfast and lunch. Restaurants serve dinner of some form.

Tomorrow is our completion of phase one the hike the Finisterre, the end of the world.
