Finisterre to Lires on the Costa Da Morte

After an enjoyable evening in Finisterre we started out of town on our way to Muxia (Moo SHE a). After a beautiful day the day before, the gray skies were back. But the views on our way out of town were diminished very little.

Finisterre on our way out of town
More hills to climb
The blue skies mocked us, we never walked under them this day
l continue to be puzzled as to why mortal remains are kept above ground. Have never gotten a straight answer. This is a working cemetery

As we got out of town we came across a small cafe which was indicated in the guide book as the only services along the path until we reached our destination of Lires….So, of course, we stopped for a cafe con leche (coffee with milk, the traditional way to drink coffee in Spain….black coffee confuses them, so, when in Rome…). As we came across another small shrine.

And up the hill we went

A Horreo and another hill
These views were always deceptive. You think you are at the top but there is always another hill to climb
There was a self service rest stop

The path passed through a saw mill. THROUGH a saw mill and we had to be wary of heavy equipment as we quickly made our way through. Then we got our first view of the sea:

First glimpse of the Costa da Morte
We played peek a boo with the ocean all day

We continued along the ridge

Moving
A view of wind mills before the rains came

As we moved along the weather indicated that rain we be coming in that afternoon so we worked hard to get to our digs for the evening. Which was a good thing.

You should be seeing the windmills from the earlier picture but the rain is moving in
Clouds rolling in

Tomorrow a prettier day walking into Muxia
