Muxia, the other end of the earth

So, as with Finisterre, after having a chance to shower, change clothes and to, once again, become socially acceptable, our intrepid little band regrouped to head to the Nosa Señora da Barca (our Lady of the Boat), the other end of the earth. Finisterre and Muxia are roughly 30 miles apart but both extend into the Atlantic about the dame amount. From a visual perspective Muxia is a bit more photogenic than Finisterre due to the fact that one is much closer to the water in Muxia. So much so that Muxia, rather than Finisterre was used for the final scenes of the movie “The Way” starring Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez. If you have not seen the movie and are interested in the Camino I highly recommend it. So, as with Finisterre, we took a cab from town out to the Nosa Señora da Barca . The sanctuary is in remembrance of when the Virgin Mary appeared to the apostle James and provided encouragement when the Celtic pagans of Galicia were less than receptive to the prospects of Christianity.

The View is really quite outstanding IMHO
as were the sounds
A more panoramic view from where I was standing
There is a Camino da Farro or the way of the Lighthouse which could be an interesting trak sometime.
As close as yours truly got to the end of the earth lol

The sanctuary of Our lady of the Boat is really quite beautiful and very new as it was rebuilt in 2014 after being destroyed by fire caused by a lightening strike.

Notice the models of ships hanging in the sanctuary
A little better view of the boats
an icon of Saint James
Some Spanish altars tend to be very graphic
A view of the Church from near the main altar
Me accidentally shooting a selfie and smiling simultaneously
Melanie taking a picture of the sun shining through the bell tower as the sunset. Her picture was much better
A crucerio of the property
A view back in town from where we had dinner

So, while this finishes the hike as such, one more post from the city of A’Coruna and the Tower of Hercules
