Day 0 UK Arrival. Evensong Winchester Cathedral

Winchester Cathedral

Arrived in UK at sunrise, unfortunately clouds obscured most of London on the way in.

Greater London at sunrise

So’ I estimated 2.5 hours to clear passport control and clear customs…..20 minutes! Wow, great right? Well, not if you booked the car to take us to Winchester at 9:30. So, we got to cool our heels for a bit in a very busy terminal 2 coffee shop.

After a roughly one hour ride with a very nice Nepalis (not Neapolitan) driver named PeeGee, we laid eyes on Winchester Cathedral.

After a nice lunch and a nap, (I don’t know about you but long distance flying always takes a bit out of me :-)) we reconvened for Evesnsong. Evensong, also known as Vespers are the evening prayers sung by some Christian sects. We were not permites to record the service but if you google Winchester Evensong, there is a Youtube channel or their performances. It is really quite lovely. I will close this entry with some photos of the cathedral. Next section Salisbury and Stonehenge.
